I worked for months, working 12- hour days cleaning floors and tear down wallpaper one child strapped on my back, and others crawling inside the playpen. Ha! The whole thing was beginning to come together but there was still a long way to go. In order to furnish the house would be a huge effort with regards to both time and funds. In the end, I was stuffed with too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. In my own home, I started hosting open houses, where over 1000 people could come in and buy any item they liked on the 1st floor in just one weekend. This is where my business Growing Days was born. Growing Days was not only an incredibly successful business, but it was also a loving family. The balance between work and family was crucial for me. I wanted to balance being a mother and also a successful business owner. Growing Days seemed like the perfect fit. Nora was born in 2013 as our 4th baby. While I was pleased with the direction my business went, I was feeling like I was in need of an occasional break. I took a break from making vintage furniture, and slowed down my pace to be at home to take care of the kids. The time was right. After a couple of months, the phone began to begin to. There were calls from people asking me to help them with decorating their homes and interiors. A majority of these were the ones who had strolled through my home during the furniture open houses! I began taking on customers one by one going at my own pace however it wasn't for long to have numerous accounts and had an entire home improvement business. Most likely, I would have laughed if somebody had informed me that my company was to become the premise of an upcoming tv program that airs on the DIY Network. As I reflect back, it makes me smile.
