Richard B. Cheney has served as a public servant for many years as well as an entrepreneur who has made a name for himself. Cheney is currently Vice President of the United States. Cheney, a well-known face on the scene of Washington politics, worked with four presidents from the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush chose Cheney to be his running mate for vice president in July 2000, citing the experience and wisdom of Cheney. Dick Cheney is a former Chief of Staff of presidents, served in Congress and was the secretary of defense. Cheney is an honest man whom is admired by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney has said that he regards his role as an honest but discrete adviser in Bush's administration. Cheney said that after he was accepted as the Republican nomination for vice president Cheney was looking forward to working with a president who works across political lines to reach his objectives and work with his opponents in trust and respect. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941, the child of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. At the age of 13, Richard Bruce moved with his parents from Nebraska to Casper (in Wyoming, the State of Wyoming) which is where his father served as director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's soil conservation district.
